The ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer training course combines theoretical concepts with practical implementation guidance. Each training day is structured to build progressively toward full AIMS implementation competence.
Day 1 — Introduction to AI Management Systems and ISO/IEC 42001
Introduction to the fundamental principles, concepts, and requirements of an artificial intelligence management system based on ISO/IEC 42001. Covers the standard's structure, scope, key definitions, and the organizational context driving AI governance globally — including supply chain considerations and the regulatory landscape.
Day 2 — Planning and Initiating an ISO 42001 AIMS Implementation
Covers how to plan and initiate an AIMS implementation project using PECB's IMS2 methodology. Participants learn to define the scope of the AIMS, establish leadership commitment, develop the AI policy, and identify interested parties and their requirements.
Day 3 — Implementing an ISO 42001 AI Management System
Deep focus on practical implementation: risk management, AI system impact assessments, developing controls from Annex A, documenting processes, and integrating responsible AI principles throughout operations. Participants develop the core competence to implement AI management system controls in accordance with ISO/IEC 42001.
Day 4 — Monitoring, Measurement, and Continual Improvement
Covers performance evaluation, internal audits, management review, and the continual improvement cycle. Participants learn to measure AIMS effectiveness, prepare for the certification audit, and manage nonconformities. Includes preparation for the certification process and the PECB Examination and Certification Program requirements.
Day 5 — PECB Certification Exam
The PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer exam meets all the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP) requirements. Successfully completing the course and passing the exam qualifies candidates to apply for the Lead Implementer credential.
