reconn is an authorized PECB partner delivering the ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer course 100% online. You study PECB's official courseware through the MyPECB portal, with built-in quizzes, and sit the proctored exam on the PECB Exams app when you are ready. The course teaches you to implement, manage and continually improve an information security management system (ISMS), and prepares you for the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer credential.
Your enrollment window: your exam attempts, certification application and first-year maintenance fee are covered when you use them within 12 months of purchase.
The PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer credential shows that you can plan, implement, manage, monitor and continually improve an information security management system (ISMS) based on ISO/IEC 27001, and prepare an organization for a certification audit. The course follows PECB's IMS2 implementation methodology, from project initiation through monitoring and improvement.
ISO/IEC 27001 is the international standard for information security management systems. It sets out what an organization needs in place to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its information, and organizations can be certified against it. The Lead Implementer is the person who runs the implementation project: scoping, information security policy, risk assessment and treatment, the Statement of Applicability, the 93 Annex A controls, documentation, monitoring and preparing for the audit.
The focus is implementation and management, not hands-on technical security work. You do not need to be a penetration tester or a developer.
Your PECB credential certifies you as a professional. An organization's own ISO/IEC 27001 certificate is issued separately, by an accredited certification body after an audit.
Almost every organization now depends on information it cannot afford to lose, leak or have altered: customer data, financial records, source code, contracts and operational systems. Ransomware, phishing, supplier compromises and simple human error put that information at risk every day, and technical tools alone do not manage it.
Customers, partners and tender documents increasingly ask organizations to show that they manage information security deliberately. An ISMS gives them a structured, repeatable way to do it: a clear policy, a risk assessment process, defined controls and responsibilities, internal audit, management review and continual improvement. People who can set that up are in demand, and the Lead Implementer credential is built to prove you can.
ISO/IEC 27001 is voluntary. Certification does not by itself demonstrate legal compliance with laws and regulations such as NIS2, DORA or GDPR, and requirements differ by country and sector, so organizations should confirm their obligations with qualified legal counsel.

Shenoy Sandeep
Founder of reconn · Dubai, UAE
Shenoy Sandeep is the founder of reconn, an AI-first cybersecurity firm based in Dubai, UAE. He has 20+ years in cybersecurity, focused on offensive security and threat intelligence, and 10+ years in enterprise AI, AI governance and data protection. He is one of the world's early PECB-certified AI professionals and also works with ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, ISO 22301 and GDPR.
Not a slide reader. A practitioner.
The course content is PECB's official courseware, so the curriculum and exam are identical whoever you buy from. Shenoy's part is the support around it:
Adapted to your background. From tech, you go deeper on tools, terminology and how AI systems work. From governance, risk or compliance, he keeps it in plain language and focuses on how to run the implementation project.
From your trainer until you clear your exam, within your 12-month enrollment window.
Drawn from hands-on AI governance, security and ISO implementation work, so the standard makes sense outside the slides.
It is if you want to build, run or advise on an information security management system (ISMS) based on ISO/IEC 27001, and to hold a PECB credential that proves it. If your goal is to assess and audit an ISMS instead, look at the Lead Auditor course below.
PECB's course materials describe an implementation project of 6 to 12 months, from the first planning process to the end of the project. Your timeline depends on organizational maturity, scope, available resources and top management support.
want to build and run an ISMS inside an organization, or advise others who do.
want to assess and verify an ISMS, or work in audit, assurance or certification. See the ISO 27001 Lead Auditor course.
Want both credentials? See the ISO 27001 Lead Implementer + Lead Auditor bundle. Impartiality still applies: auditors should not audit a management system they implemented.
PECB's official courseware (450+ pages), delivered 100% online through the MyPECB portal. Study at your own pace, any time, from anywhere.
Everything in Self-Study, plus pre-recorded video content covering every training day.
The languages available are shown in the buy box. Both formats include built-in quizzes, 2 PECB exam attempts, 31 CPD credits on completion, your first year of PECB's annual maintenance fee, a free 60-minute 1-on-1 mentoring session with a PECB Certified Trainer, and email and WhatsApp support until exam clearance. The certification is the same official PECB credential either way.

You need general knowledge of information security concepts. Implementation experience helps but is not required to enroll or to sit the exam.
If you have no implementation experience yet, you can still pass the exam and apply for the Provisional Implementer credential while you build your project experience.
The course follows PECB's official five-day structure, built on PECB's IMS2 implementation methodology. As a Self-Study or eLearning student you work through it at your own pace.
PECB sets and grades every exam. For exam languages and other details, see the List of PECB Exams and the Examination Rules and Policies.

PECB certifications are valid for three years. To keep yours active you submit continuing professional development (CPD) hours and pay PECB's annual maintenance fee (AMF). Your first year of AMF is included in your reconn package. See PECB's Certification Maintenance page for the current requirements and fees.
Your enrollment window: your exam attempts, certification application and first-year maintenance fee are covered when you use them within 12 months of purchase.

Buying from your country
Yes. reconn sells the Self-Study and eLearning formats online to learners worldwide, and regularly enrolls students from the UAE and GCC, Europe, the UK and Ireland, North America, South America, Singapore, South Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand. Both formats are 100% online, so nothing is shipped and you start as soon as your PECB account is activated.
The price depends on your country and format (Self-Study or eLearning). The price for your location is shown in the buy box at the top of this page and at checkout. Every package includes the official PECB courseware, your first exam attempt and one free retake (two attempts in total), your PECB certification application fee, the first year of PECB's annual maintenance fee, 31 CPD credits and a free 60-minute 1-on-1 mentoring session with a PECB Certified Trainer. The exam attempts, application and maintenance fee are covered when you use them within 12 months of purchase. Qualified buyers in the Middle East can also split the payment, see pay in installments with Tabby or Tamara.
It depends on your country. Where tax applies, it is calculated at checkout from your location and shown before you pay. After payment you receive a tax invoice that your finance team can use for reimbursement.
reconn accepts credit cards and international bank transfers in AED, USD, EUR and other supported currencies. Buyers in the Middle East who qualify can also pay in installments through Tabby or Tamara, which you arrange with us before you order (details in the next question). After checkout you receive a secure payment link or a pro forma invoice. If you need a particular currency or payment method, email hello@reconn.io before you order.
Yes, for qualified buyers in the Middle East. reconn offers buy now, pay later through Tabby and Tamara, so you can split the course fee into installments instead of paying it all at once. It is not a checkout option: to use it, email hello@reconn.io or message us on WhatsApp before you order, and we will set it up with you.
Tabby and Tamara are independent providers, and they decide whether you are approved. They run their own eligibility check, and they set the number of installments, any fees and the repayment schedule, all of which they show you before you confirm. Country coverage is also set by each provider and can change, so we confirm availability when you contact us. Read the provider's terms before you accept, because late or missed payments are handled under their rules, not reconn's.
If Tabby or Tamara is not available for you, you can still pay by card or bank transfer.
Yes. You receive a tax invoice after payment, suitable for company reimbursement. If your company needs corporate invoicing or specific details on the invoice, email hello@reconn.io before placing your order.
Self-Study is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian) and Arabic. The languages offered for eLearning are listed in the buy box at the top of this page. Pick your format and language before you check out. If the language you need is not listed for your format, email hello@reconn.io and we will tell you what is available. Exam languages are set by PECB, so also see the exam language question below.
Yes. The exam is taken online on the PECB Exams app and supervised remotely, so you can sit it from wherever you are, as long as you meet PECB's technical and environment requirements. You schedule it for a date and time that suit you. Read PECB's Examination Rules and Policies before exam day.
Recognition and credibility
Yes. reconn is an authorized PECB partner, and the course content, exam and credential come from PECB. You study on PECB's MyPECB portal and sit the exam on the PECB Exams app. To confirm any provider's status before you pay, ask for written proof and check with PECB at support@pecb.com.
Yes. The credential is issued by PECB, not by reconn, so it is the same whichever authorized partner you buy from, and the courseware and exam are the same too. What differs is what surrounds the course. At reconn that includes a free 60-minute 1-on-1 mentoring session and email and WhatsApp support until you clear your exam.
PECB's ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer certification scheme is accredited by UKAS under ISO/IEC 17024:2012. The accreditation applies to PECB's personnel certification scheme, not to reconn or to the course.
PECB is an international certification body and ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard, so the credential is relevant wherever organizations implement or are assessed against ISO/IEC 27001. How a particular employer, client or tender values it varies, so if you need it for a specific job or contract, check their requirements first. We are happy to talk it through on WhatsApp.
No. The PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer credential certifies you as a professional. An organization's ISO/IEC 27001 certificate is issued separately, by an accredited certification body after an audit of its information security management system. As a Lead Implementer you help your organization get ready for that audit.
reconn is rated 4.6 out of 5 (“Excellent”) on Trustpilot from 20 reviews, all 5-star, as of October 2026. The reviews cover reconn's PECB courses and support across several standards, and learners most often mention the guidance and the quick replies. Read the reviews on Trustpilot.
Check five things before you pay: that the provider is authorized by PECB, that the credential is named “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer” and issued by PECB, that you study on MyPECB and sit the exam on the PECB Exams app, how many exam attempts are included and what they cover, and whether you get direct access to a named trainer. Treat “guaranteed pass” claims as a red flag, because PECB sets and grades its own exams.
The course
PECB's official courseware (450+ pages), your first exam attempt and one free retake, your PECB certification application fee, your first year of PECB's annual maintenance fee, an attestation of course completion worth 31 CPD credits, a free 60-minute 1-on-1 mentoring session with a PECB Certified Trainer, and email and WhatsApp support until exam clearance. eLearning also includes pre-recorded video content for every training day.
Self-Study gives you PECB's official courseware, delivered 100% online through MyPECB. eLearning gives you everything in Self-Study plus pre-recorded video content for every training day. Both include the same exam attempts, the same 1-on-1 mentoring session and the same support, and both lead to the same PECB credential.
There is no fixed schedule. The content follows PECB's four training days plus an exam day, and you study at your own pace. How long that takes depends on your background and the time you can set aside. Plan to finish your exam attempts and certification application within 12 months of purchase.
Through PECB's MyPECB portal. After your purchase, reconn activates your PECB account and sends you access instructions. You then log in to open your courseware and, for eLearning, the video content.
You need general knowledge of information security concepts, as PECB's courseware states. You do not need implementation experience to enroll or to sit the exam. Experience only matters when you apply for the credential level you want, and the Provisional Implementer level requires none.
Yes. The course teaches you to implement an information security management system based on ISO/IEC 27001:2022, including selecting, designing and implementing controls from Annex A, which contains 93 controls in four groups.
Take Lead Implementer if you want to build and run an information security management system, or advise organizations that do. Take Lead Auditor if you want to assess and audit one. If you want both, see the Lead Implementer + Lead Auditor bundle. Impartiality still applies: auditors should not audit a management system they implemented.
PECB's course materials describe an implementation project of 6 to 12 months, from the first planning process to the end of the project. Your timeline depends on organizational maturity, scope, resources and top management support.

The exam
The exam has 80 multiple-choice questions, each with three options and one correct answer, arranged in scenario sets of five questions. It is open-book, taken online on the PECB Exams app, and you need 70% to pass, which means at least 56 correct answers. Online results are instant.
Yes. You may use a hard copy of ISO/IEC 27001, the course materials and your own course notes.
Seven competency domains: fundamental principles and concepts (15 questions), ISMS requirements (12), planning an ISMS implementation (18), implementing an ISMS (14), monitoring and measurement of an ISMS (10), continual improvement (6) and preparation for a certification audit (5).
Planning an ISMS implementation is the largest, at 18 of 80 questions (22.5%), followed by fundamental principles and concepts (18.75%) and implementing an ISMS (17.5%). Planning and implementation together make up 40% of the exam.
Online, through the PECB Exams app, with remote supervision by PECB. PECB administers the exam, not reconn. You schedule it for a date and time that suit you once you have studied.
PECB sets the exam duration and shows it when you schedule your exam. If you take the exam in a language that is not your native language, you get 30 extra minutes.
Exam languages are set by PECB and can vary by exam format. Check PECB's List of PECB Exams for the languages offered for this exam before you choose your course language.
Two: your first attempt and one free retake, both within 12 months of purchase. Your package also covers your certification application fee and the first year of PECB's annual maintenance fee. Any attempt beyond the included ones is charged by PECB at its current fee.
Your package includes one free retake, which you need to use within 12 months of purchase. Use your 1-on-1 mentoring session and WhatsApp support to plan your revision, then schedule the retake on the PECB Exams app.
No. PECB sets, administers and grades every exam, and its policies do not allow partners to share exam questions. What reconn provides is the official courseware, a free 60-minute 1-on-1 mentoring session and email and WhatsApp support until exam clearance.
Certification and maintenance
You apply to PECB for the credential that matches your professional experience. If you have no implementation experience yet, you can apply for the Provisional Implementer credential, which needs the exam only. Your package covers PECB's certification application fee.
Four: Provisional Implementer (exam only), Implementer (2 years of professional experience, 1 year in ISMS projects and 200 hours of ISMS project activities), Lead Implementer (5 years, 2 years and 300 hours) and Senior Lead Implementer (10 years, 7 years and 1,000 hours).
Drafting ISMS implementation plans, initiating implementation projects, establishing policies, processes and procedures, setting objectives at relevant levels, implementing the ISMS, managing, monitoring and maintaining the ISMS, and identifying and acting on improvement opportunities.

Yes, at the Provisional Implementer level. You pass the exam and apply to PECB with no experience requirement, then build your project experience toward the Implementer and Lead Implementer levels.
PECB certifications are valid for three years. To keep yours active you submit continuing professional development (CPD) hours and pay PECB's annual maintenance fee (AMF). Your first year of AMF is included in your reconn package.
PECB's annual maintenance fee applies from the second year, and PECB sets the amount. See PECB's Certification Maintenance page for the current fee and CPD requirements.
