How it runs

A live practical workshop with your trainer

You learn the official PECB ISA/IEC 62443 Lead Implementer course live on Microsoft Teams, with a PECB Certified Trainer who has spent 20+ years in cybersecurity. The sessions are built around how an IACS security program is established and run, with your own plant and sector as the working example.

What happens in the sessions

  • Walk the courseware live

The trainer takes you through the four content blocks of the PECB courseware, then you prepare for the exam.

  • Apply it to your plant

Bring your own sector, whether oil and gas, manufacturing, power or water, and work through how the requirements apply there.

  • Ask as you go

Questions are welcome at any point. In a 1-on-1 or small batch you get the trainer's full attention.

  • Never miss a session

Every session is recorded. If something comes up, you catch up from the recording.

Who you learn with

The format is yours to choose, so the pace suits you rather than a crowd.

  1. 1-on-1Just you and the trainer, at days and times you agree.
  2. Small batchA few colleagues or peers learning together on a shared schedule.
  3. Corporate teamA dedicated batch for your organization, live online worldwide.
  4. RecordingsYou receive the recording of every session.

Extra help is built in. If you need more than the five sessions, the trainer can add extra 1-hour sessions until you clear the exam, within 12 months of enrollment, whichever comes first.

Includes the reconn ISA/IEC 62443 Lead Implementer mind map

What it is

A mind map and quick review of the important ISA/IEC 62443 topics, made by reconn as a PDF. It puts the whole course on one visual reference so you can see how the pieces connect.

How it helps you prepare

  • See the big picture

Follow how the IACS security program, requirements and maturity thinking fit together.

  • Review quickly

Revisit the important topics in minutes before a session or when you revise.

  • Spot gaps

Check what you can explain without notes, and what to ask the trainer.

How to use it

Keep it beside you during the sessions, add your own notes, and use it as a starting point when you revise.

When you get it

You receive the mind map during the live sessions.

License and use

The mind map is licensed to one user, for PECB candidates only. Please do not share or resell it.

The mind map is a study aid created by reconn. It is not an official PECB product and does not replace the PECB courseware.

Includes the reconn ISA/IEC 62443 Implementation Starter Toolkit

What the toolkit is

A starter set of Word and Excel templates made by reconn for putting an IACS security program into practice. It gives you a working structure to fill in, so you spend your time on the plant and not on blank pages.

What's inside

  • IACS asset inventory register (Excel)
  • Zone and conduit register (Excel)
  • Risk assessment register (Excel)
  • Security requirements tracker (Excel)
  • IACS security policy template (Word)
  • Incident response plan template (Word)
  • Patch and change management procedure template (Word)
  • Awareness and training plan template (Word)

Each template comes with an example entry, so you can see how it is meant to be filled in.

Benefits

  • Start faster

Begin your own asset, zone and risk records straight after the sessions.

  • Practice what you learn

Fill in the templates while you study, so the course topics become something you have used.

  • Show your work

Bring a worked example to interviews or to a conversation with your plant team.

How to use it

Take one template at a time, fill it in for a real or imagined plant, and bring your questions to a session or to the trainer on WhatsApp.

Who it's for

OT and ICS security professionals, consultants and career changers who want practical material alongside the course.

License and use

The toolkit is licensed to one user, for PECB candidates only, and you receive it during the live sessions. Please do not share or resell it.

The toolkit is a starting point created by reconn. It is not an official PECB product, it does not replace the PECB courseware and using it does not make an organization compliant with ISA/IEC 62443.

Also included

A study plan and a monthly live Q&A, so you keep moving

The live sessions are the core of the course. These extras keep you on track between sessions and until exam day.

Week-by-week study plan

A five-week PDF plan: one week for each of the four content blocks and one for exam preparation. Follow it as written, or stretch it across your 12-month window.

  • Weeks 1 to 4

Review each content block, with the key topics to revisit and questions to bring to the trainer.

  • Week 5

Exam preparation: how to use your open-book materials and notes well.

Monthly live group Q&A

Once a month, a 60-minute live group session on Microsoft Teams for enrolled learners, within your 12-month window. Bring your questions, hear other learners' questions, and keep the momentum going. Sessions are recorded.

Practitioner case studies with worked solutions

Four scenario-based cases, one for each content block, set in industrial environments such as oil and gas, manufacturing, power and water. Each comes with a worked solution, so you can check your reasoning against the trainer's.

  • Think it through

Read the scenario and decide what you would do before you look at the solution.

  • Compare your answer

See the worked solution and the reasoning behind it.

Career transition prep

Support for moving into OT and industrial security, or moving up in it.

  • A 30-minute 1-on-1 career conversation with the trainer
  • A CV and LinkedIn checklist for OT and industrial security roles
  • An interview question pack

Career transition prep helps you present your skills. It does not guarantee a job or an interview.

Real-world practice

Learn it the way a plant actually runs

Industrial security is different from office IT. Systems stay up for years, downtime is expensive, and safety comes first. The trainer teaches ISA/IEC 62443 with those realities in view.

Think like the implementer and the auditor

  • Build the program

Plan how you would establish, implement and manage an IACS security program in a real environment.

  • Question your own work

Look at the same program as an auditor would, and see what evidence it needs to stand up.

  • Field insight

The trainer has 20+ years in cybersecurity, including red and blue team operations early in his career, and runs a GRC advisory practice.

Who this suits

  • OT and ICS security professionals

Engineers and security staff who protect plants, pipelines and other critical infrastructure.

  • Consultants and integrators

People who help asset owners and system builders meet industrial security requirements.

  • Compliance and risk teams

Professionals who need to understand how the IACS security program is put together.

  • Career changers

IT and cybersecurity professionals moving into industrial security.

What you leave with

A clear view of how an IACS security program is built, the vocabulary to discuss it with plant and security teams, and a PECB exam you are ready to sit. Prerequisite: general knowledge of IACS concepts and ISA/IEC 62443.

Mentoring

1-on-1 mentoring from your PECB Certified Trainer

You are not handed a course and left alone. The trainer stays with you until you are confident enough to sit the exam.

What you can bring to the trainer

  • Your plant and sector

How ISA/IEC 62443 applies to your own environment.

  • Tricky topics

Anything in the courseware that is not yet clear, explained in context.

  • Your exam plan

When to sit the exam and how to use the open-book format well.

  • Your credential path

Which level your experience fits, from Provisional Implementer to Senior Lead Implementer.

Support until you clear the exam

Here is how your enrollment runs from the first session to exam day.

  1. Book your sessionsAgree your days and times with the trainer.
  2. Attend and reviewJoin five live sessions and watch any recording you need again.
  3. Ask anytimeEmail or WhatsApp the trainer whenever you get stuck.
  4. Sit the examTake it online with a remote proctor, within your 12-month enrollment window.

Unlimited email and WhatsApp support until you clear the exam, within your 12-month enrollment window.

Why reconn

Why take your PECB ISA/IEC 62443 live course with reconn?

Before you buy: how to avoid look-alike "PECB" programs

Some sellers use PECB's name without PECB's authorization, or sell a different certificate that looks similar. Check these six things before you pay anyone for a PECB course.

  • Ask for PECB authorization in writing

You can confirm it with PECB at support@pecb.com.

  • Ask for the exact credential name in writing

It should read "PECB Certified ISA/IEC 62443 Lead Implementer", issued by PECB.

  • Check where you study and sit the exam

Course materials come through MyPECB and the exam runs on the PECB Exams app.

  • Ask what is included and for how long

Exam attempts, the certification application and the first-year AMF should be in the package, with the window stated.

  • Ask who your trainer is

You should have direct access to a named trainer, and you should know for how long.

  • Treat these as red flags

A "guaranteed pass" claim, or pressure to switch to an "equivalent" program, is a reason to walk away.

The reconn difference. The same official PECB certification, with a PECB Certified Trainer teaching you live: five 3-hour sessions, recordings, and unlimited email and WhatsApp support until you clear the exam, within your 12-month enrollment window. Talk to a PECB Certified Trainer on WhatsApp.

Prerequisite

PECB lists a general knowledge of IACS concepts and ISA/IEC 62443 as the prerequisite for the course.
The certification

Your credential, issued by PECB

The PECB ISA/IEC 62443 Lead Implementer certification confirms that you can support an organization in establishing, implementing, managing and maintaining an industrial automation and control systems (IACS) security program based on the ISA/IEC 62443 series. It is aimed at professionals securing operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS), including plants in oil and gas, manufacturing and other critical infrastructure sectors.

You earn the credential by passing the PECB exam and meeting PECB's professional requirements for the level you apply for. The course gives you the knowledge. The exam and your experience decide which credential you hold.

Two things that are not the same

  • Attending is not certifying

Completing the live sessions prepares you. PECB sets and grades the exam, and PECB issues the credential.

  • The course is not the credential level

Every candidate sits the same exam. Your years, projects and hours decide the level.

Four credential levels from PECB

  • PECB Provisional ISA/IEC 62443 Lead Implementer

Pass the exam. No professional experience required.

  • PECB Certified ISA/IEC 62443 Implementer

Pass the exam, plus 2 years of professional experience, 1 year in IACS management and 200 hours of implementation activities.

  • PECB Certified ISA/IEC 62443 Lead Implementer

Pass the exam, plus 5 years of professional experience, 2 years in IACS management and 300 hours of implementation activities.

  • PECB Certified ISA/IEC 62443 Senior Lead Implementer

Pass the exam, plus 10 years of professional experience, 7 years in IACS management and 1,000 hours of implementation activities.

Validity. PECB certifications are valid for three years. To keep yours active you pay the annual maintenance fee (AMF) and record continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

A note from the founder

Hello, I am Shenoy, the founder of reconn. If you are starting out in industrial security, or moving into it from IT, this note is for you.

I have spent 20+ years in cybersecurity, beginning with red and blue team operations, and I still work as a practitioner, advising organizations on governance, risk and compliance.

I moved into mentoring and training in 2025 because I wanted learners to have a trainer who works in the field and can answer the real questions.

I teach the live online course myself, 1-on-1 or in small batches, so you get my time and attention rather than a seat in a crowd.

I cannot promise that you will pass. PECB sets and grades the exam. What I do promise is my time and attention: the sessions, the recordings, extra hours if you need them, and answers by email and WhatsApp until you clear the exam, within your enrollment window.

If you are not sure the course fits you or your team, message me and I will tell you honestly.
