Several training providers advertise PECB courses to win your search, then steer buyers toward a different, mass-market certificate program instead of the PECB credential. Check these before you pay.

Everything you need to know before choosing your ISO 22301 certification path
ISO/IEC 22301:2019 is the international standard for business continuity management systems. It gives organizations a framework for identifying threats, assessing their impact, and maintaining operations through disruptions — whether that is a cyberattack, natural disaster, supply chain failure, or pandemic. Professionals who work in risk management, operational resilience, business continuity planning, or compliance need this certification to demonstrate competency in designing and auditing BCMS frameworks. Regulated sectors — financial services, energy, healthcare, critical infrastructure — increasingly require it.
Lead Implementer: You will design, build, and manage a business continuity management system inside an organization. This covers business impact analysis, business continuity plan development, setting RTO and RPO targets, crisis communication, continuity testing, and ongoing management review. It is the right path if you work inside an organization responsible for its BCMS.
Lead Auditor: You will plan, conduct, and close BCMS audits against ISO 22301 requirements, following ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1. This is the right path if you work as an internal auditor, third-party auditor, compliance consultant, or certification body assessor. Many professionals hold both certifications — Lead Implementer to build systems, Lead Auditor to assess them.
Both options give you the same Lead-level PECB curriculum, 2 exam attempts, and 1st year Annual Maintenance Fee delivered through the MyPECB portal. The Foundation bundle adds the ISO 22301 Foundation course — a useful primer if you are new to business continuity standards and want structured baseline knowledge before tackling Lead-level content. If you already have BCMS experience or have studied business continuity frameworks, the standalone Lead-level enrollment is the faster path.
For professionals who want structured live instruction rather than self-paced study, Shenoy runs small-group ISO 22301 Lead Implementer sessions via virtual classroom. Sessions run in the evenings and weekends to fit Gulf, European, and UK time zones. The format is cohort-based with real BCMS case studies, direct Q&A, and exam preparation built in. Pricing is not listed online — contact us via WhatsApp to discuss the next cohort dates and availability. Currently available for Lead Implementer; Lead Auditor live sessions are coming soon.
The PECB ISO 22301 Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor courses are each equivalent to 5 days of structured learning and carry 31 CPD credits. In self-study format, most candidates complete the curriculum in 2 to 4 weeks depending on prior knowledge and study time available. Exam attempts can be scheduled through MyPECB once you have completed the required study. Your enrollment includes 2 exam attempts, so there is a safety net if you need a second sitting.
If you work in financial services in the EU or UK — or support organizations that do — DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) overlaps heavily with ISO 22301 in its requirements for ICT continuity, incident response, and third-party risk management. The PECB DORA Lead Manager certification is a practical complement to ISO 22301 credentials for professionals operating in that regulatory environment. We offer DORA Lead Manager as a separate self-study certification — view the DORA Lead Manager course here.
Yes, these are two separate things. Personal certifications (Lead Implementer, Lead Auditor) certify individuals. Organizational ISO 22301 certification requires a third-party audit by an accredited conformity assessment body such as BSI, Bureau Veritas, or SGS. reconn helps organizations prepare for that audit — through gap assessments, BCMS design, policy development, and audit readiness reviews. If your organization needs implementation support rather than individual training, see our ISO 22301 implementation service.
Yes. PECB credentials are recognized by employers, clients, and regulators across more than 150 countries. The certificate is valid for 3 years, with an Annual Maintenance Fee covering the first year. Renewal requires ongoing CPD activity, which keeps the credential current with standard revisions and industry developments. reconn issues certificates as a PECB Authorized Global Reseller and Training Partner — the same credentials you would receive directly through PECB.
