Yes. Each course in a reconn bundle comes with its own free 1-hour 1-on-1 session with a PECB Certified Trainer, plus unlimited email and WhatsApp support until you clear each exam. The 12-month window runs separately for each course from its enrollment date.
The exam
The exam has 80 multiple-choice questions with three options each, one correct. It mixes stand-alone questions and scenario-based questions, where you read a case and answer five related questions. The exam is open-book, so you can use the course materials, your own notes and the main standard. The passing score is 70%.
You take the exam online through the PECB Exams app, supervised remotely by a PECB invigilator using a camera. Results for online multiple-choice exams appear instantly. reconn does not administer the exam; PECB does.
Your reconn package includes one free retake, so you have two attempts in total. PECB sets no limit on the number of retakes, although it applies waiting periods between attempts. The email with your result lists the domains where you scored lowest so you can focus your revision.
Certification and support
It depends on your experience. The Provisional Manager credential needs none. SOC 2 Manager needs two years of work experience, including one in information security, and 200 hours of SOC 2 project activity. Lead SOC 2 Manager needs five years, including two in information security, and 300 hours. Senior Lead needs ten years, including seven in information security, and 1,000 hours.
Twelve months from your enrollment date with reconn. Both the exam attempts and the certification application must be completed inside that window to be covered by the price you paid.
Three years. To keep it, you complete the required continuing professional development hours and pay the annual maintenance fee. Your first year of that fee is included.
After enrolling, you book a one-hour live online session with a PECB Certified Trainer. You choose the topic, such as scoping a real SOC 2 project, exam strategy or choosing the right credential level. Afterwards you can email or message the trainer on WhatsApp until you clear the exam.
