Prerequisites 

None. There are no formal prerequisites for the CAIM training course. A general familiarity with business processes, data, or digital tools is helpful but not required — the labs run in visual, no-code environments, so you don't need any programming background to take part.

Course Agenda

The course runs over four training days plus the exam, moving from AI foundations through governance, decision intelligence, and automation:

  • Day 1 — Foundations of AI: AI fundamentals, capabilities and global trends, strategic value and business alignment, identifying and prioritizing AI opportunities, data readiness, and managing AI projects
  • Day 2 — AI Governance: AI governance and policy, fairness and bias, transparency and explainability, data security, and risk management
  • Day 3 — Data-Driven Decision-Making & Power BI: anatomy of a decision, asking the right questions and defining KPIs, understanding data and business patterns, data storytelling principles, and an introduction to Power BI (Labs: Prompt Engineering, Power BI)
  • Day 4 — AI Automation & n8n: GenAI and LLM fundamentals, architectures, agents and agentic systems, data, knowledge and RAG, the AI automation project life cycle, and an introduction to n8n (Lab: n8n)
  • Day 5 — Certification Exam

Examination

The PECB Certified Artificial Intelligence Manager exam meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP) and covers five competency domains:

  • Domain 1: AI foundations, strategy, and opportunity management
  • Domain 2: AI governance, policy, and risk management
  • Domain 3: Prompt Engineering, Decision Intelligence, and Power BI
  • Domain 4: Foundations of AI-driven automation
  • Domain 5: Generative AI and automation use cases

Certification

After passing the exam, you can apply for one of two credentials, and you receive the certificate once you meet the requirements for the tier you choose:

  • PECB Certified Artificial Intelligence Provisional Manager — pass the CAIM exam and sign the PECB Code of Ethics. No experience required.
  • PECB Certified Artificial Intelligence Manager — pass the CAIM exam, hold five years of work experience including two in AI management, and sign the PECB Code of Ethics.

There's no project-experience requirement for either tier. If you're newer to AI management, certify as a Provisional Manager now and upgrade to the full credential once you meet the experience criteria — no need to re-sit the exam.

The artificial intelligence management activities should follow best practices and include the following:

  1. Ensure every AI initiative is directly mapped to a specific business KPI rather than implementing solutions without clear strategic alignment.
  2. Establish comprehensive policies for data privacy, bias mitigation, and security compliance prior to deployment to ensure ethical and regulatory adherence.
  3. Prioritize data quality and governance as foundational prerequisites, while implementing continuous monitoring to manage model drift and ensure long-term system reliability.
  4. Drive adoption through targeted upskilling, transparent communication, and the definition of “Human-in-the-Loop” workflows to build trust and augment workforce capabilities.

Is PECB CAIM a technical or coding course?

No. CAIM is a no-code management certification. The labs — Prompt Engineering, Power BI, and n8n — all run in visual, drag-and-drop environments. You focus on strategy, governance, and outcomes, not syntax.

How is PECB CAIM different from PECB CAIP?

CAIP certifies applied technical competence across the AI stack (Python, ML, deep learning, LLMs). CAIM certifies the manager who governs AI, ties it to business KPIs, and automates workflows. Many teams send technical staff to CAIP and their leads to CAIM.

How is PECB CAIM different from ISO/IEC 42001 credentials?

SO/IEC 42001 certifies you to implement or audit a formal AI management system (AIMS). CAIM is broader and more operational — strategy, opportunity selection, decision intelligence, and automation. They complement each other; reconn maps the overlap for you in the overlay module.

Do I need experience to get PECB CAIM certified?

No. You can certify as a Provisional Manager with no experience. The full Manager credential requires 5 years of work experience including 2 in AI management — you can upgrade later without re-sitting the exam.
